MAYBELLINE DREAM NUDE AIRFOAM FOUNDATION REVIEW

I’ve decided to layout this review slightly differently to my other reviews. I hope you like it – If you aren’t keen on how this review is set out or written I would love to hear your feedback for future reviews.

Anyways – ONTO THE REVIEW!

PRODUCT NAME : Maybelline Dream Nude AirFoam Foundation

COLOUR PURCHASED: 010 Ivory

PLACE PURCHASED: Superdrug

PRICE: £7.99

Pictures of the product :

PACKAGING: The product comes in a air tight can which when the nozzle at the top of it is pressed, the product squirts out as a foam liquid. It is lovely and fluffy but you have to be careful when you press the nozzle because if you press it too hard , too much product will come out! (As I found out when testing it haha!). There is a plastic cap that goes over the top of the lid which will help protect it.

APPLICATION: To apply you simply squirt the foundation onto the palm of your hand and you distribute over a clean face evenly. Be sure to blend all around the edges of your face as I found that if your skin tone doesn’t match the foundation exactly, then you will see the line from the foundation easily. You can use a foundation brush to distribute the product on your face, whatever you prefer.

PICTURE OF THE FOAM :

ABSORBENCY: It absorbs into your face very well , however if you use too much of the product you might get a little bit of an orange tone to your face so use the product lightly.

THE SMELL: It doesn’t really have a smell to it. Some foundations smell very chemically but I found this smelt of nothing to be honest.

THE LOOK/FEEL ONCE APPLIED: The foundation has a lovely finish to it. It leaves your skin looking natural and fresh. It does a good job at covering blemishes too however I actually found that it felt a little heavy on my skin even though Maybelline claims that it is a lightweight foundation. This could just be me , as I tend not to wear foundation much.

LASTING WEAR: I applied this at around 10:30AM and it hadn’t smeared or smudged when I returned home from shopping at around 4:00PM so I can safely say this lasts from 5 hours without budging.

WHERE YOU CAN PURCHASE: You can buy this in Boots, Superdrug or online. Superdrug are currently selling it online for £6.99 and it is usually £8.99.

OVERALL: This is a lovely foundation that gives you a natural look – however If you are fair skinned like myself , this might not be your kind of thing. My skin tone is Porcelain and the lightest the foundation goes is Ivory which is slightly darker than my skin tone which sucks a little. It claims to be light weight however for me it felt like I had a little too much on my face. I personally wouldn’t recommend it as I think there are much better foundations that Maybelline do such as there Dream Mousse foundation.

Thanks for reading

BEAUTY UK FALSE LASH FX MASCARA REVIEW!

The link to the mascara: http://www.beautyukcosmetics.com/products/eyes/mascara/false-lash-fx-black

It is just £3.99 so it is very affordable. You can purchase this online at the Beauty UK website or you can purchase this in Superdrug stores.

My first thoughts of the mascara were that it looked a little cheap. Sorry Beauty UK, but the packaging really doesn’t win me over. I love that the company focuses on the quality of their makeup as opposed to the look of the packaging , however at the end of the day , its the packaging that draws me into most products. The tube is white and the writing is bright pink. While this is a very simple tube , if it looks cheap then it could  perform cheaply. The mascara wand isn’t as thick as I thought it was going to be, as most false lash effect mascaras tend to have a bigger brush whereas this one had a smaller brush. Here are some pictures of the wand and the tube :

The mascara is Matte black. Sometimes I find that most mascaras that claim to be black , end up having brown tints to them , but I can safely say that this is definitely black.

Below are some pictures of lashes with and without the mascara :

I did two tests with this mascara. A splash test and a soak test. This is to show you guys whether or not this is waterproof/splash proof. Below is a video of a splash test and a soak test. I tried to mimic rain and a soak (so if you go swimming or to the beach!).

The mascara lasted around 6 hours without it smudging , however by the time 5 hours had gone it started to flake so I suppose it isn’t that bad!

Overall this is a good budget mascara. I don’t recommend this for someone who wants a waterproof mascara , however if you are looking for a good quality cheap plain mascara then this would work for you.

How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes !

Here is a very simple and cheap way to clean your makeup brushes thoroughly! I recommend cleaning your brushes once every 3-4 weeks. However if you use them a lot then I suggest cleaning perhaps once every 1 or 2 weeks.  You don’t need to use a special liquid to clean your brushes. All you will need is a liquid that isn’t full of chemicals, and has some sort of anti bacterial formula in it.

I used some fairy liquid as this will get rid of all the greases and bacteria that are on your brushes. I forgot to wash my brushes so due to this I ended up breaking out in spots. It is vital that you clean your brushes, otherwise you will just be putting more and more bacteria onto your face!

Here are some pictures showing what I used!

Below are some pictures of what I used to clean them :

I used the Lemon scented Fairy Liquid – The lemon will make the brushes smell lovely! If you squirt some of the liquid onto the plate then take your brush and dip it in it , then you will see all of the dirt coming out of the brush! It looks horrible but it’s quite interesting!

Once you have dipped your brushes into the fairy liquid , rinse in warm water and continue to dip the brushes into liquid onto the plate until it runs clear. To assure that your brushes are free from soap , run them under a tap and every now and then swipe the brush back and forth into your hand until there are no bubbles. It sounds complicated but it is really easy!

Once you have cleaned all of your brushes , stand them in a glass or a cup to dry. Place them with the bristles at the bottom of the cup. You do this because it will prevent the water draining into the handle of the brush , which would loosen the glue that holds it together , and it would break.

*Do not leave these in a cold place to dry , as this will make them smell very damp – I suggest leaving these in a warm place to dry , or if you need them more or less straight away , get a hair dryer and dry them on the coolest setting. Without the hair dryer it can take up to 24hours for these to dry.

And there you go! Lovely lemon smelling brushes that are squeaky clean!!
