Dress To Your Body Shape!

(I will be updating this soon so stay tuned! -January2013)

Hello ! This post is a little different from my others. I thought I would post some tips and tricks on how to dress for your body shape!

I wouldn’t say I am curvy and I wouldn’t say I am slim – I am in the middle! I find it very hard to find clothes for my body type and I am sure there are many other people that struggle too!
Below are the different body types and what clothes will compliment your body type nicely! =)

TRIANGLE SHAPE – A triangle shape is when you have a wide waist and small shoulders. So in other words , your bottom half is larger than your top half.

WHAT TO WEAR –

Wear lighter colours on your top half to highlight the small area , and wear darker colours on your bottom half to draw the eyes to your top half. This is a very simple and easy trick that tricks the eyes to be directed to the lighter areas on the body. Another tip for your top half is, by wearing tops with stripes , this will create a wider and longer look !

Wear tops that have wide necks – this creates the illusion of larger and longer looking shoulders. Triangular bodies tend to have very small shoulders, so by wearing the wider necks it will look as if your shoulders are bigger.

In the summer you obviously wouldn’t want to be walking around with dark colour trousers on ! So instead of wearing dark bottoms, wear none! Wear dresses! Pick a light coloured dress that is fitted around the bust and tailors out towards the lower half. This will draw the eyes to the fitted section, creating the illusion of curves.

Here are a few items of clothing that would suit your shape!

INVERTED TRIANGLE SHAPE – An inverted triangle shape is when your top half is larger than your bottom half. So this usually means your shoulders are wide and your bust is big , but your hips, thighs and bottom are small.

WHAT TO WEAR -

Because your bottom half is slender , you will be able to pull of super skinny jeans easily! So , similar to the triangular shape, instead of wearing light on top and dark on bottom , switch it around! Wear bright skinny jeans with a dark/medium coloured top to draw the eyes to the bottom half

By wearing wide neck t shirts and jumpers this will tone down the shoulders being large – Try to avoid High neck tops as this will make your shoulder look even longer.

Flared skirts will create the curves on your bottom half – try not to wear fitted dresses as this will make your top half look even bigger.

If you don’t mind showing a bit of cleavage then wear a scoop neck t shirt which has a vertical stripe on – AVOID HORIZONTAL STRIPES , this will make your top half look larger – by wearing vertical stripes it will give a longer look as opposed to a wider look

A few things that would suit your shape :

RECTANGULAR SHAPE –   A rectangular body shape tends to have no curves. A lot of people will find it difficult to look feminine with a rectangular shape and tend to stick to baggy tops and trousers.

WHAT TO WEAR -

On your top half , wearing tops that are fitted around the bust and drape around the bottom will create the illusion of curves

By wearing flared trousers it will give you more shape and will create a curvier look

Horizontal stripes on t shirts will create a wide look and will give the illusion of a rounder body

Try not to wear narrow skirts and vertical lined tops. The narrow skirt will give you no shape whatsoever and the vertical lines will just elongate the rectangular shape even more.

A few tops and bottoms that will compliment your shape!

HOURGLASS SHAPE – An hourglass shape is when your shoulders are large , waist is small and lower half is large

WHAT TO WEAR -

With an hourglass shape you can wear lots of fitted tops and dresses and pencil skirts. The fitted tops and dresses will exagerate your small waist and the pencil skirts will compliment your bottom half nicely

Try not to wear baggy clothes as this will give the illusion of your body looking larger than it actually is

chunky necklaces will make any outfit look even better!

Polo necks are a no no ! These will hide your long neck and wide shoulders!

Flared trousers will look great and give the illusion of smaller thighs and high waist trousers will define your small waist !

A few things that would look great on you!

DIAMOND SHAPE – Diamond shaped bodies tend to have small top and bottom halves and a large tummy

WHAT TO WEAR -

T shirts and tops that fit around the bust then flare out around the tummy will allow your tummy to appear smaller

Avoid tight tank tops and body con dresses as this will cling to your body and make it look larger

Trousers that flare out around the legs and bottom will make you look slimmer

ROUNDED SHAPE –  A round body tends to be larger on top and the bottom but are smaller just under the bust

WHAT TO WEAR -

Tops that are fitted on the bust and flare out at the bottom will compliment your body shape lovely

Flared trousers and flared skirts will define your body more, giving you curves

High heels will elongate your legs giving the appearance of slender legs

A few bits and bobs that will look lovely on you !

As you can see there are lots of different items of clothing that will compliment each and every single body type !

The best way to make your body look even better than it already is, is ….. CONFIDENCE!

By carrying yourself in a confident way you will automatically radiate a type of beauty that attracts everyone. Confidence is a huge part of looking good and unless you love your body and dress it well, then you can end up looking frumpy!

For all you bootylicious curvy girls out there , you are beautiful no matter what! The pressures today on looking slim are disgustingly high and all I can say is CURVES ARE THE NEW BLACK!

Embrace your curves!

For all you girls that are slender and not confident about your body – you are beautiful too! Hold your head up high because your body is amazing!

Everyone is different and everyone is beautiful - there is no such thing as outer ugly, only inner ugly. An ugly personality makes up for an ugly person. An ugly person doesn’t make up for an ugly personality.

At times I look at myself in the mirror and say “you need to work out!” , But then I think…. “meh , gimme a chocolate bar!” Some people will never be happy with the way they look however no matter what you can work your body ! WORK IT GIRLS!
Don’t ever let anyone critisize you for who you are and what you look like. You are you and you are AMAZING.

Hold your head high and most importantly….

Smile =)

E.L.F Mineral Lipstick And Glossy Gloss Review

PRODUCT NAME : E.L.F Mineral Lipstick

COLOUR: Nicely Nude

FINISH: Matte

PRICE: £3.50

Packaging: The lipstick came in a white cardboard/paper box. It was lovely and simple but still very eye catching. The lipstick itself comes in a sleek black tube with the E.L.F logo on top and the words “eyes, lips, face” written on the side. The lipstick twists up and down out of the tube to allow maximum usage.

Lasting Wear: This lasted 4 hours without having to re apply

Coverage: A little goes a long way!

Overall: This is a lovely pink lipstick that can be worn either casually or formally. I found that I had to put it in the fridge though when I first used it as it was a little soft. It has a nice matte finish but a slight shine to it in the light which is lovely.

PRODUCT NAME: E.L.F Studio Glossy Gloss

COLOUR: Pink Candy

Finish: Shiny/Glossy

PRICE: £3.50

Packaging: The gloss came in a cardboard package. The tube is a thick plastic and it is clear so you can see the colour of the gloss. The brush is small and great for getting the colour on your cupids bow. The lid screws on tight so it is safe and secure and won’t leak.

Lasting Wear: This lasts around 4 hours

Coverage: This is a very thick and sticky gloss, you only need a little amount!

Overall: This is a lovely lipgloss that would look lovely on top on the Mineral lipstick above. It also looks lovely on its own. The finish is glossy. It is a candy pink colour that is bang on trend with the CANDY STYLE. It is a little sticky however if you use a small amount it isn’t as sticky.

Thanks for reading

E.L.F 85 Piece Palette Swatches

This isn’t so much a review but more of a swatch review. The majority of E.L.Fs eyeshadows have the same lasting wear , so instead of writing about the lasting wear and whether or not it creases, I thought I would write about the pigmentation of each colour !

Packaging pictures :

In this Palette you get –  60 eyeshadows, 20 lipsticks, 3 blushes and 2 bronzers

Below are some swatches of each eyeshadow !

WARM COLOURS – These colours I found, didn’t swatch too well. I usually find with E.L.F’s lighter shadows, that they don’t have a lot of pigmentation in them.

COOL COLOURS – I found that these cooler colours swatched quite well. There was a variety of matte colours and shimmery colours.

PINKS AND PURPLES – I loved these colours because they just reminded me of something that I would wear to a party or a halloween party. They’re very bold and bright and swatched well!

PEACH AND BROWN COLOURS – This row of colours was my favorite because I loved that they were lovely and warm and would be perfect for Spring, Summer, Winter or Autumn.

DARK COLOURS: Finally, these are the darker colours of the palette. These would be perfect for a smokey eye or to use as an eye liner.

The lipsticks on this palette were a bit of a disappointment. They weren’t worth swatching as they didn’t have any pigment in them at all. There was one colour which was a red colour that gave my lips a slight tint but other than that , these aren’t worth using.

I swatched the blushes and bronzers. I loved the blushes and will probably be using these. The bronzers however were a little too dark for my fair skin so I might use these as eye shadows or contouring instead.

I would recommend this palette more than I would recommend the 32 piece Eye Shadow Palette and the 6 in 1 Beauty To Go Palette as I found this one was better laid out and the colours were more unique. I find with some E.L.F palettes that they tend to be a bit repetitive , however I loved the colours in this palette and will be using this in the future!

Glossy Box Vs Latest In Beauty Box

A few weeks ago I ordered my first GlossyBox. I ordered one as I had seen many people rave about them and the reviews were very good. I went onto their website and it was pretty straight forward. I signed up for a one month subscription which would allow me to cancel anytime I wanted. I managed to find a coupon for £2 off so the box only cost me £10 which meant I got the shipping free. I received the box after about 4 days of ordering it , so I was very pleased with the shipping and handling time!

It was very well packaged. I loved the pink box and I can certainly re use it which is a bonus. Below are some pictures of the packaging

It was actually a lot smaller than I though it was going to be. For some reason I thought the box was going to be at least the size of the cardboard box it came in – I know that’s not much difference but in the photos it looked a lot bigger!

I opened the box and I have to say that I loved the wrapping! It was so delicate and I almost just didn’t want to open it!

But as I got deeper into the box, the least impressed I became. While I knew I was going to be getting some samples of products, I didn’t think they would be as bad as I received. I know that the first box is never tailored to your profile on the website however I was very disappointed that the products I received were probably never going to be used!

I received two Clarins Extra Firming Day and Night cream. Okay so I would probably use this but I used it for a few days and have noticed no difference to my skin whatsoever. I have young skin so I guess if I had a few more wrinkles this might have made a bigger difference! I also received a Murad Primer. Never heard of Murad. I have quite large pores so this could come in handy but it certainly won’t last long. I also received a FAB body moisturizer. Again, never heard of the brand but might as well try it! And finally I recieved an EyeKo pencil in green. I tried this out , it was a lovely colour but again, I don’t really know when I will be using it as I use black and white eyeliner more.

So as you can see I wasn’t that impressed by my GlossyBox. I understand that they are sample sizes but in all honesty I thought they were going to be a little bigger than that! What confused me a little was that the box and packaging was attracting a younger audience , yet the products I received were attracting more of an older audience.

For £10 I shouldn’t complain but I just though that compared to all the other months of products that GlossyBox gave out, this one was the worst. In most of the other boxes people recieved products like OPI and NARS …. Jealous! haha.

Oh well never mind! I had to try it !

Onto the next box!

Latest In Beauty was something I came across after being disappointed by my GlossyBox. I searched for other beauty boxes in the UK that were like GlossyBox and I came across this website.

The box I ordered was their latest THEMED BOX called The Refresh&Recovery Box. It contains lots of different products that are good for your health and skin! I thought this would be perfect considering we are in winter and our diets tend to go a little crazy and our skin tends to dry up. What attracted me to this box more than the GlossyBox was that not only was  I going to be receiving 7 products with FREE shipping and at only £6.95 …. I was allowed to choose 2 FREE extra products from a selection that they had on offer. BRILLIANT!

I ordered one straight away and within 3 days it arrived! Not bad considering the shipping was free! The packaging was real cute , no it didn’t come with a box for keeps like the GlossyBox did but I liked the fact they focused more on the products as opposed to the packaging!

The theme of this box was Refresh and Recover. It is designed purely for detoxing your body and making you look and feel fresh. The products I received in this box were – Actimint Suplements, Tea pigs tummy tonic pepermint leaves , Lavera hand cream, Monu recover balm, Cosmetofruit Chile supplement, Figs and rouge balm. My two FREE products that I chose , out of many, were Burts Bees Body lotion and Balance Me Lip Balm (this was a full size product).

First of all , I received twice as many products in this box for half the price. I have already used half of these products and all of them are fantastic! The hand cream worked wonders for my dry cracked hands (stupid cold weather!) and the lip balm really conditioned my lips.

So overall I preferred my Latest In Beauty Box far more than my GlossyBox. I am not saying that you shouldn’t try GlossyBox as I am sure that in other months , their products have been fantastic. However for quantity then i suggest using the Latest In Beauty as you get 10 products for half the price….

Here are the websites below – I would love to hear your opinions on both of these boxes!
