MUA Undress Your Skin Illuminating Foundation – PORCELAIN Review

The other day I decided to purchase the MUA Undress Your Skin Illuminating Foundation in the shade Porcelain. You have no idea how over the moon I was to see the porcelain shade on the shelf. As a pasty face young lady I get frustrated when brands don’t create a shade for us pale pretty’s! We deserve some foundation love too!

I purchased this from my local Superdrug store for £5, although it was 3 for 2 at the time so I think it was a little bit cheaper!

The Undress Your Skin Range is a relatively new range by MUA which is all about creating a flawless complexion on a budget! Their range reminds me of Urban Decay’s NAKED range so I would highly recommend trying this first before splashing out!

PACKAGING

I like the packaging of the foundation. It’s simple, nude and makes me think of a fresh look. The tube is different, I’ve never had a foundation in a tube like this before so I was intrigued. It has a screw cap to prevent any leakages.

FORMULA

The formula is thick and a tiny bit watery but I kind of like that as it allows easier application and less product. It’s just a little bit creamier than a normal foundation. The porcelain colour is perfect. It’s really light and perfect for the paler skin tones. It’s a medium – full coverage.

APPLICATION

Application is super easy. You need around a grape size amount of the product to get a medium coverage and maybe 2 grape sizes to get a full coverage. It goes on like a dream and sits really nicely on the skin. It’s not at all streaky and it’s just amazing!

QUALITY

I really like the quality of the foundation. It hasn’t really got a smell to it which is good because I hate the smell of foundation sometimes! It’s got a great coverage and makes my skin look flawless. I love that it’s really lightweight too so this will be perfect for the summer. It’s given my skin a lovely fresh and glowing look

NEGATIVES

The only negative I have, which isn’t really the products fault, it’s my skins fault but I want to mention it anyway. If you have oily skin you might find this a little too harsh on your skin. My forehead has been oily lately and this foundation does make it worse. However after applying a matte powder over the top it calmed it down a little. I’m only pointing this out for the oily complexioned people out there as it might make your skin a little bit more greasy

OVERALL

I am really pleased with this foundation. I can’t really fault it. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality as I hadn’t read glowing reviews online of it but I can assure you this is a really lovely product. It’s only £5 so if you aren’t 100% keen on it it’s not really much loss. If you have a light skin tone then this will suit you perfectly. There are 2 other shades to choose from too.

MUA Trio Eye Shadows

MUA have recently added some new products to their ever growing range and one of these products is the Trio Eyeshadows. These are small palettes with three shadows in each box that come in a range of colours at affordable prices. These are just £3 and you can purchase them on the MUA WEBSITE or in selected Superdrug stores.

The two palettes that I have are “Emotions” and “Theatrics”

trio1 trio2 trio3

EMOTIONS

Emotions is more of a neutral palette. It has three shimmer shadows all different shades of brown/cream. They are really well pigmented and the shimmer catches the light perfectly. I’m more of a matte shadow girl but I really like these.

THEATRICS

I love the Theatrics palette. The deep shades remind of a midnight sky. I love the black shade as it has elements of gold shimmer running through it which can be seen when the light catches your eyes. These too are really well pigmented. The lighter shades aren’t as pigmented but I find this with any light eye shadow in all honesty!

OVERALL

These are great eye shadows. If you have tried the MUA shadows before then you’ll recognize the similarity in pigment and quality. I love the uniqueness of the colours and the  combination of colours that you can see. If you’re not keen on shimmer shadows then you really won’t like these as they are in no way matte – Pure shimmer. I think these would be perfect for the Summer months as the sun will really catch that shimmer and make your eyes pop!

These are only £3 and you get 3 shadows and one dual ended sponge applicator which sits in the packaging nicely

Give them a try and let me know what you think!

Weekly Wishlist!

Wishlist time! No it’s not Wednesday, so it’s not “Wishlist Wednesday” and yes I know it’s Friday, which is usually “Friday Favorites” But I’m being a rebel and going for a Weekly Wishlist round up today!

I’m writing this now because by the time it get’s to Wednesday I probably would have forgotten what I wanted – I know that sounds silly but half the time I have to write a list of things that I am wanting because I tend to forget! (which should surely mean they’re not important enough to buy because I don’t remember them but oh well! haha)

So here’s my weekly wishlist!

wishlist1

#1 – Palazzo Pants – I am absolutely in love with Palazzo trousers at the moment. I don’t own a pair yet but I am dying to get my hands on a pair like the one’s above (from Topshop) and pair them with some wedges !

#2 – Peach Lemonade By Costa – Oh…my…goodness. If you haven’t tried the new Cooler flavor drinks then you need to ! The Peach Lemonade one is to die for! It’s refreshing and super tasty! I might have to try and re create this

#3 – Summer Scoop Yankee Candle  - Okay, you have no idea how much I love Yankee Candles. They smell so lovely and the range of scents are endless. I saw that Yankee Candle had released a few new scents this year and I heard about the Summer Scoop one from another blogger. I visited my local garden center and smelt it (as you do) and It’s now in my wishlist!

#4 – Ice Watch – I’ve wanted one of these watches for a while. I love the ICE watches they’re bright and colorful. I love the Mint green and Sea blue one’s so hopefully I’ll get my hands on one soon

wishlsit2

#5 – Candy Jar Storage – I’m looking into getting a few of these cute candy jars to store some of my makeup in. I’m trying to get the “shabby chic” style into my room and these will fit perfectly

#6 – Kick ass concealer Soap & Glory – I’ve heard really great reviews about this product and I mayyyy have to give in and go buy it !

#7 – Vintage Stool – At the moment I have a really ugly and annoying chair at my makeup desk and it just takes up so much room and I’m desperately looking for a vintage/shabby chic style stool like the one above (but more floral)

#8 – Bright Satchel – Yes, I want to jump on the Satchel bandwagon because I think they’re really cute! I love the bright neon one’s and I think it’d look great with a simple outfit to give it that extra pop of colour for the Summer

So this is my Weekly Wishlist!

Hope you enjoyed reading!

Thanks!

DIY Zit Zappers !

With this lovely warm weather approaching I can think of nothing better than switching from jeans to shorts and jumpers to t shirts. But more importantly I am really looking forward to wearing a lot less makeup! In the Winter I cover my face more because my skin is dry, red and I suffer from spots more in the colder weather for some reason!

To get your skin ready for Summer below are some tips and tricks for banishing those zits! They’re easy, fun and cheap!

#1 – Ice Facial

Ice is one of the many ways that helps reduce redness on the skin. The cold cube soothes the skin and leaves your skin looking and feeling fresher. Ice is a great skin saver for acne sufferers. Acne can sometimes be quite painful and by using ice this will constrict the blood vessels beneath the pimple and reduce both redness and pain. Simply grab an ice cube and rub in circular motions over the affected area’s. Do this 2-3 times a week and you’ll notice a huge difference!255718_stock-photo-three-melting-ice-cubes

#2 – Aspirin Paste

This is a trick that I have seen a few Youtubers do and I think it’s a really interesting zit zapper trick! Aspirin is an anti inflammatory which will help reduce the size of the pimple and the redness too. This is a perfect night time zit zapper as it’ll work overnight ready for a fresh faced morning. To do this simply grab 2-4 crushed aspirin tablets and add half a teaspoon of water. Then using a Q-tip , mix this all together until it forms a paste like liquid. Spread this evenly over the affected areas, leave on the skin until it is completely dry then rinse your face with warm water.

#3 – Toothpaste Tricks

This trick is either a hit or miss with most people. Whilst it is effective for some, it’s not effective for all. But it’s an option! Toothpaste contains an ingredient called “silica” which is considered a drying agent. This will dry that pimple out and reduce the size overnight. This is best used overnight as you don’t want to be walking around with toothpaste over your face all day! Simply dab a small amount onto the skin and leave overnight – Rinse with warm water in the morning. The results should show a significant reduction in redness and size. Try it!

#4 – Steam Clean

Steam is another great way to reduce spots. The steam will open up your pores which will allow you to easily remove blackheads which can turn into pimples – So not only are you reducing, you are PREVENTING, which is key ! Simply grab a medium sized bowl and pour some boiling water into it – If you want you can add a few drops of lemon or honey to make it smell more pleasant. Then hold your head over the bowl – NOT in it, unless you want to burn yourself! – Then place a towel over  your head and the bowl (this will lock in all the steam!). Do this for 5-10 minutes a few times a week and your skin will be glowing!

#5 – Basking Soda Mask

Baking soda is another great pimple remover. It contains no harsh chemicals so this will be suitable for all skin types too. It acts as an antiseptic which will remove any bacteria on the skin which is the sole cause of pimples from occurring. It also acts as a great exfoliator too ! Simply put 3 tablespoons of powder in a dish and add 1 tablespoon of water. Mix this together until it forms a paste – If this isn’t enough paste then you can always make more this is just an estimate. Apply the paste to your skin and leave for 10 minutes until it has slightly dried. This will help unclog the pores and reduce any redness and bacteria on the skin. To use as an exfoliator, repeat the steps above and rub into the skin in circular motions instead of leaving it on the skin. Rinse and then pat dry

#6 – Honey Honey Honey!

Honey is a natural antiseptic so this will be perfect for removing any unwanted bacteria on the face. It is also an anti inflammatory so it will reduce both redness and the size. Simply place 2 table spoons of honey into a dish and taking a Q tip, dab this into the honey then apply directly onto pimples. If you find the honey is too thick pop it into the microwave for 10 seconds just so it becomes a little bit more runny and easier to apply

#7 –  Lemon Love

Lemons are perfect for reducing the appearance of acne. The citric acid helps to remove bacteria and leaves pimples noticeably less red. Take half a lemon and simply rub this over your face. The juice will be what helps the acne. To make this into a scrub, dip the lemon half into a bowl of white sugar until it is completely covered then rub this into your skin for 1 minutes. Then rinse with warm water and pat dry

These are all perfect ways to remove pimples on the skin. They are all natural and all items which you probably already have in your cupboard at home! Give them a try, I would love to know if you have tried these already!

Montagne Jeunesse Dead Sea Mud Spa

face1I’ve tried a few of the Montagne Jeunesse face masks before and I have never been disappointed, so when I saw the new Clay Masks I just had to give these beauty’s a try!

The clay masks are a new range by Montagne Jeunesse and they have 3 different types which are -

Dead Sea Mud Spa – This is a refreshing and cooling face mask with seaweed and kelp in it which helps give your skin a boost of life!

Glacial Clay Spa – This is a cooling clay mask with red grape and arctic cloudberry which aims to cleanse your pores and leave your skin looking brighter

Red Earth Clay Spa – This aims to give your skin a deep cleanse and with cinnamon and pomegranates in the ingredients it claims to protect your skin and leave it smelling lush!

You can purchase these online and in Boots & Superdrug stores for just £1.49 , these are suitable for all skin types!

DEAD SEA MUD SPA

I tried out the Dead sea mud spa mask and found that it really cleansed my skin and left it feeling soft and refreshed. At first I thought this was an actual clay formula that you spread on your skin but after trying to squeeze the formula out of the packet (as you do) I released after a while that it was a cloth mask not a liquid! oops!

To use you simply place the mask onto your skin, and leave on for 10-15 minutes for it to soak into your skin. After your relaxing time is up, you simply peel off the mask and rinse your face with warm water.

My skin instantly felt cooler, refreshed and tighter. I felt that my skin needed a little pick me up as I’ve been working hard for 4 weeks straight with minimal sleep which has left my skin looking awful – This mask has certainly improved my complexion by far!

Overall I would highly recommend trying out one of the Montagne Jeunesse Clay masks as they are refreshing and brighten up your complexion

I hope you enjoyed this post,
